As a starting point, it's important to note that Pima cotton is simply Egyptian cotton grown on U.S. soil. This means the Pima cotton bath towels are very comparable on all fronts to Egyptian cotton bath towels. It’s also worth pointing out that Supima is a quality stamp that allows the buyer confidence to know that the Supima cotton bath towel they are purchasing (look on the label) is made of 100% Pima cotton and not a blend of cotton, polyester, and nylon fibers.

Pima and Supima cotton bath towels are characterized by very long fibers that are tightly packed, delivering soft, deep-feeling towels with very strong absorption rates.

When compared to other cotton towel types, Pima and Supima cotton bath towels are right next to Egyptian cotton bath towels at the top of the list for luxury and providing a spa-like experience. However, like their Egyption counterparts, the high absorption rates lead to these towels holding excess water compared to the competitors which can result in extended drying times and, in some cases, a musty and mildewy odor with repeated washings and use.

vs The Competiton

vs. Turkish

  • Similar extra long fibers
  • More spa-like feel
  • Greater absorption
  • Slower drying due to more highly absorbent fibers

vs. Pima / Supima

  • Because Pima / Supima cotton is made from Egyptian cotton plants grown in the United States the comparison between Pima / Supima cotton and Egyptian cotton is simple - they’re roughly the same. That said, cotton purists would argue that due to the climate variations between the cotton growing regions in Egypt and the United States, Egypt still produces the highest quality cotton in the world.
